Join us for this very diverse hike featuring totally different types of areas in the Orange County NY area!
This time, we will meet at our end point, Fancher Davidge Park, and shuttle with as few vehicles as possible to the beginning. There is extremely limited parking area the beginning, so everyone should try to be at the posted meet point.
The hike will start with a lovely walk on the Shawangunk Ridge Trail, which is entirely on the old Erie Railroad main line at this point for almost five miles.
The line ascends the flank of Shawangunk Ridge, and so the rail bed affords some views along the way.
We will walk into Otisville, where we can stop at Mick's Deli.
We continue through a couple of cemeteries, past two schools and through Mt Hope Town Park and pass another cafe.
Next, we have 2.5 mils on road we must do to reach the Middletown Reservoir trail system. From here, we have over five more miles of hiking off road we will do across the preserve to reach Middletown A short road walk and rail bed leads us to the end.
Distance will be 15 miles. If needed, contact me at 908 343 8374
