Jersey Central Farewell Summer Shore Hike

Join us for this point to point hike in the north NJ shore region.
The theme of this one is of course the end of Summer, but also the historic Central Railroad of New Jersey.
The CNJ served a lot of shore points, and it's always fun to visit them on the hikes. So, for this one, we will focus on some of these rights of ways, including ones on the beach.
After meeting at the end point. Lot C at Sandy Hook, we will shuttle with as few vehicles as possible to a point south of Red Bank where there was a junction with the New York and Long Branch line.
The CNJ had a line to the east from here, which served Port Monmouth and continued east to a junction with the Seashore Branch.
We will trace this as closely as possible. Some bits of it are now trail, but they are very short. Some bits are now parking lots, gas lines, or roads. The route will take us through the raceway area, and then out toward the shore line.
We'll continue north following the rail grade as closely as possible, and eventually it turns into a walkway along the sea wall.
We'll continue on that walkway to the north to Sandy Hook, and probably at some point head to the water for a couple of breaks before the end.
There will be places for food and drinks along the way.
