This coming Spring we plan to organise a trip up to ERYRI - SNOWDONIA for 5 days/4 nights in May with a limited number of places 15.

We plan to leave on Thursday morning staying overnight in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park so we can hike up Pen y Fan (886 metres) and along the Corn Du circular walk (4 miles in total: 3.5 hours) in the afternoon. The following day we set off for Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and our accommodation in Cae Nest Hall, near Lanbedr (pics on the page). On arrival the itinerary will be fluid dictated by the weather conditions! So over the following 4 days the plan is to:

  • Hike up Yr Wyddfa - Snowdon (1085 metres) will take most of the day by the probably the Miner’s path, a 15 mile circular hike but half of which is descending.
  • Travel over to the Ogwen valley and a half day hike up to Cwm Idwal a moderate 4 mile circular hike through the bowl shaped Cwm and around Llyn Idwal.
  • Hike the Mawddwch Trail from Dolgellau to Barmouth along the disused railway track along the southern edge of the Mawddwch estuary. This is an easy, flat 9.5 mile half day trail.
  • Visit Portmeirion village for an afternoon to explore the impressive gardens and Clough Williams-Ellis’s Riviera inspired houses, hotel, ornamental garden and campanile. We shall take tea on the terrace of the Portmeirion Hotel!
  • Hike along the Gwydir Forest trails and Swallow falls, near Betws y Coed.
  • Visits to Harlech and maybe Caernarfon Castles on our travels.

The cost of the trip will be £295.00 which incudes mini bus travel, fuel and accommodation, based one sharing a room. There are supplements for those wishing to have their own room which will be arranged once numbers are confirmed. On the first night an evening meal and breakfast the following morning at the YHA on Brecon Beacons is included. For the rest of the trip we will organise food for breakfasts and a barbecue which will be arranged in a meeting later.

Due to demand on booking the accommodation is setting the pace for this adventure... so to secure your place on this trip a deposit of £150.00 is required by Saturday 31 January 2026. This deposit is non refundable unless we find someone to take your place and currently it is on a first come first serve basis. The balance is payable by the 5 March 2026. Once we are know those that are attending we plan on a trip meeting in the next couple of weeks, location tbc. If interested there is a different bank account for payments for this trip, which will be sent to you over the next couple of days, if you are still on the waitlist.

If you wish to come along in your camper you would be most welcome. There are going to be various types of walks/hikes to suit everyone and there will be alternatives to the more streneous ones.

Thanks😊
