CDMX Movie Club XII: Blindspotting

Details
We picked this film as our discussion last time took us to the topic of gentrification. The signs and protests around the CDMX speak to people feeling pushed out and neighborhoods changing fast.
But this isn’t just happening here. Blindspotting is set in Oakland, California, and it shows how gentrification, race, and power collide there too. It’s about what happens when a place stops feeling like home—even when you never left.
This movie is sharp, emotional, and layered. It’s about friendship, violence, identity—and all the things we stop noticing when we think we already understand the world around us.
Let’s discuss it with both cities in mind: CDMX and Oakland. Different places, but maybe some of the same questions.
