What we’re about
This is an MFA-style group writing workshop designed for literary fiction writers interested in meeting in person and sharing their short stories or novels in progress, getting feedback from other writers and discussing craft (with the side benefit of extra accountability / deadlines and, hopefully, some new writer friends).
We read and discuss submissions from two writers per week. Unless otherwised arranged, submissions are limited to a maximum of 30 double-spaced typed pages.
To ensure a high-quality experience, membership is limited to 11 writers per year, and prospective members must apply with a writing sample and be approved to join. That said, no previous formal writing experience or degree is required — all backgrounds are welcome.
Membership is $5 per month to cover Meetup platform fees ($55 per month).
To apply for membership, please send a writing sample (25 pages maximum) to mfatxworkshop@gmail.com along with your name and any relevant contact information (please ensure your emailed name matches the name listed on your Meetup account).
We are aiming to have our 2025 group assembled and begin workshopping by May. Applications are due April 1, 2025.
