Aug 2026 Club-Business and Speaker Presentation - Topic TBD
Details
On August 18th, Irene Peas will be returning to give us a presentation titled, "Tours in OpenSpace"... OpenSpace is a free, NASA-funded, open-source interactive data visualization software that allows for Virtual Space Tours.
It gets better... We have the strong possibility of seeing the presentation in 3D... The MHAA has secured permission for us to use the John R. Kirk Planetarium (across the hall from where we meet) to view the tour. Work is being done to integrate the planetarium with the software.
IN THE EVENT the planetarium option doesn't work out for any reason, the presentation will still proceed in our regular lecture hall.
Irene Pease has hosted weekly and monthly livestreams covering a variety of astronomy topics. While living in NYC she produced the Hayden Planetarium video blog, Skylight, co-hosted Astronomy on Tap NYC, and a served as President of the Amateur Astronomers Association. Irene currently astronomizes around Sullivan County and observes from the dark skies of the Catskills.
