Lake Taghkanic Lunar Eclipse!
Details
On Aug 17th there will be what promises to be a beautiful partial lunar eclipse! At totality, 93% of the Moon's diameter will be covered by the Earth's shadow (96.2% by area).
MHAA Members are welcome and encouraged to come out to Lake Taghkanic State Park to see it!
**IMPORTANT! If attending, you MUST fill out this online form and PRINT it (no later than the day before the event). The online form lets the park know you are an MHAA member and will be there. The printed form serves as your permit to be in the park after hours.
If you are not sure if you are going or not, fill out the form and print it anyway. That way your option to go remains open!
"If you're not yet an official MHAA member and would like to join so you can attend this event, Join here first!"
No telescope needed! If you have a telescope, great... If not, that's fine too! You can see it through other people's scopes, or imaging screens or watch it with binoculars or even watch it with your naked eyes!
FYI - Moon Tracking Timeline (from Lake Tagkanic)

12:12 a.m. ET (Peak Eclipse): The Moon will be at its highest point, positioned almost directly due South.
12:53 a.m. ET (Umbra Eclipse Ends): The Moon will begin moving into the South-West sky, remaining at an altitude of about 36 degrees.
Note: The Moon will remain somewhat visibly shaded by the Earth's Prenumbra shadow until ~2:15 ET a.m.
