2024 Turkey Run SP in Indiana - Camping / Kayaking / Hiking / Biking Weekend!!

What:
Join us for a camping / kayaking / gravel biking / hiking weekend @ Turkey Run State Park in central Indiana. Beautiful state park that has a feel to it similar to Hocking Hills and Red River Gorge

When:
Memorial Day weekend 2024. We suggest Thursday May 23 through Monday May 27th, 2024. Since it's ~6 hour drive, we're scheduling it on Memorial Day weekend to have extra time to enjoy the park. Come for as many days as you want. Jan, Emma the dog and I will be there for the week, join us for more days if you want to.

Where:
We'll be staying at the Turkey Run State Park. We'll be camping, and also there are rental cabins in the park and an Inn nearby

Activity Schedule
Turkey Run State Park has kayaking, hiking and gravel biking opportunities. We'll schedule:

• Friday 8:30am: Coffee with Ali. Stop by site 97 for Turkish Coffee! Bring your own cup
• Friday 9:30am: Canoe/Kayak at Livery. Meet at Sugar Valley Livery, ... about 10 mins away. Canoe/Kayak the Jackson bridge 10 mile trip. More of a lazy river, not hard. ~4 hours. Reserve Canoe/Kayak or staging for your own kayak here.
• Self Staging: see comment below from Pete
• Saturday 09:00am: Bike ride *** See my update in comments below ***
• Saturday 12:00pm: Tubing. Meet at Sugar Valley Livery, ... about 10 mins away. Tube the 3 mile park trip. More of a lazy river, not hard. Reserve a tube here
• Saturday 6:00pm: Potluck, Sites 119-121. Hike to sunset point, about 1/2 mile.
• Sunday 8:30am: Coffee with Ali. Stop by site 97 for Turkish Coffee! Bring your own cup
• Sunday 10am: 6 mile hike of the highlights of the park. Meet at the nature center parking lot. ~ 2.5 - 3 hours
• Sunday PM: Group ideas or open time to organize and do what you want.
• Monday: TBD Hike before leaving TBD

Feel free to join some, all .. or none of the activities; it's up to you. Jan, Emma and I will be there most of the week and do most/all of these things.. come up earlier in the week and join us for more if you want!

Next Steps:
As of 11/23, Turkey Run is fully booked for Memorial Weekend, but there are these options:

• Create a reserve America account
• Get notifications when/if sites become available here
• There are 2 other state parks close by that have availability (as of 11/26)
• Shades SP (8 miles away) and Racoon Lake (12 miles away) and well rated in tripadvisor

I added camping, fees and taxes and divided by 7 days to get around $31/night for us. We're in site 224. We'll have our trailer and our dog Emma
