Close-by Camping and Relaxing @Beautiful Waterloo Rec Area, Portage Lake

Looking for a close-by gorgeous weekend get-away? Join us for two nights of camping in a modern campground. Feel free to go do your own thing. We will have an unstructured weekend including hiking, swimming, etc. CHECK BACK HERE THE MORNING OF EVENT FOR ANY LAST MINUTES CHANGES. We have two lots: #70 (host campsite) and #56 (overflow) Phone is spotty or unavailable at the campsite! Look for notes on the picnic table or by Ali's RV door.

Ali will be glamping in his RV, and surely leading one of his fantastic hikes. I'll be in my tent. So, we have room for four other tent campers on our site. All other sites at Portage Campground in Waterloo Rec Area are currently sold out (but you can get cancellation notifications from the DNR). Day trippers are welcome -- please let us know you'll be joining us in the COMMENTS SECTION... but please do not RSVP to this event.

This weekend is relaxing and unstructured, but hiking, swimming, biking, etc. are all possibilities! Day trippers must depart the campground by 10 p.m.

We will share the costs of one reserved site and the firewood. BRING YOUR OWN FOOD and drink, and maybe something to share. Bring chairs for the campfire -- weather-permitting. Phone and texting are SPOTTY or unavailable in the campground.

Check-out is 1 pm, but we can continue to enjoy the park all day Sunday after we move our cars.

PORTAGE LAKE MODERN CAMPGROUND has flush toilets and usually hot showers. Please note only TWO vehicles are allowed on the site, and this is strictly enforced by the rangers. Your car will have to be parked in overflow parking.
