Backpacking along High Coutry Pathway

(Clear Lake State Park campground -- about 45 minutes east of Gaylord)

THE BROAD PLAN:
Friday day (Oct 9): Hike Shingle Mills Pathway (optional)
Friday night: camp at Clear Lake State Park
Saturday: backpack about 12 miles along the High Country Pathway
Saturday night: backcountry camp on the trail
Sunday early: return to Clear Lake State Park
Sunday late: go home

Friday Oct 9 (optional):
I will arrive late morning and hike along the Shingle Mills Pathway starting at the Pigeon River Headquarters. If you are interested in joining then contact me/ leave a message in the event chat.

Friday night camping:
I have reserved site 120 in the Clear Lake upper campground. You can get reservations here ($40 for one night: 2 cars, 6 people/site)

Saturday Oct 10:
Leave cars at Clear Lake and hike southwest along the High Country pathway towards Rattlesnake Hill. Backcountry camp somewhere along the trail.

Sunday Oct 11:
Hike back to Clear Lake (it is an in-and-out trail)

COSTS:
$20 for the Michigan Recreation Pass if you do not have it already.
$40 for the campsite at Clear Lake (campsites can have up to 2 cars and 6 people)

OTHER QUESTIONS:
I will be happy to answer any questions until Friday Oct 9. On Oct 9, I probably will not have cell service.
