Hello pickleplayers! Sorry for this long description, but is necessary to make sure everyone is on the same page. Please read it at your own time.
This meetup event is for you if you answer yes to any of the following questions:
- Have you ever saw a pickleball game and wanted to join but don't know or haven't played before?
- Are pickleball classes/clinics intimidating for you?
- Are you refusing to pay to join a club, reserve a court, etc?
- Do you want to play but no one in your friend or family group doesn't know nor doesn't want to?
Then let's get together, practice, and play!
To set expectations straight, this meetup event is not:
- A pickleball class (I'm not an instructor, nor planning to be)
- A pay-to-play (our meetup group is free-to- join and free-to-play)
- A competitive environment (just come in, play, socialize, and have fun!)
- A just focus on the match and leave (this will be slow paced, socialize, and just have a fun day, but focusing on improving your game).
My recommendations (not requirements) before attending this Meetup event:
- Go to Target, Walmart, Dick's, etc, and get a feel for each pickelball paddle weight and grip, to know which one feels better for you.
- Watch tutorial videos on how to play, how to hold the paddle, standings, strategies, etc.
- Get familiar with the differences between outdoor vs indoor pickle-balls (very important).
- Get familiar with the scoring system for both singles and doubles. If you're struggling a lot with this one, don't worry. You'll learn it with time and practice.
Strictly required
- RSVP (attend) only if you're sure you can make it. It takes a lot of time, energy, money, and preparation to make these meetups happen.
- Come in with a possitive attitude. We all wanna play and have a good time.
- Make sure you're physically able to play. Respectfully, neither me nor meetup itself are to be held responsible if you get injured in the court.
What to expect
1. Once you find the group, introduce yourself, what brings you here?
2. Do a little warm up to avoid cramps and injuries (appearances are deceiving, pickleball is one heck of a workout).
3. Play practice matches to start getting your fundamentals right, and then play some real matches (so you get familiar with the standings and scoring).
4. Socialize while we wait for others to finish their match.
5. Go home and wait for the next pickle-meetup (I just made that word lol)!
6. Any unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and may result in being removed and banned from the group.
See you there!
