What we’re about
Craving adult conversation beyond nap-schedules and car-seats? Join us!
We’re a casual, baby-friendly book club that meets outdoors at Shenandoah Park. Bring your baby or toddler — we’ll have a bin of toys, and you’re welcome to bring their favorites too. We meet in a shaded grassy area in front of the library, perfect for a relaxed afternoon of books, babies, and conversation.
This book club is for adults aged 18 and over. All babies and toddlers must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. No unaccompanied minors are permitted at any events.
How it works:
- Each month(ish), we’ll read a new book (a mix of non-fiction, memoir, and inspirational reads for grown-ups).
- At each meetup, we’ll casually discuss the book while the little ones play near us.
- Feel free to bring a blanket, snacks, and whatever keeps you and your little one comfy!
FAQ
Is the event free?
Yes! These events are free to attend. I’ve enabled the fundraising feature on Meetup to help cover the cost of our group’s membership dues ($44/month). Donations are completely optional and not expected at all.
Can I bring my baby?
Please do! This club is designed for moms and their little ones. I’ll bring a bin of toys for everyone to share, but you’re welcome to bring your baby’s favorite toy too.
What if it’s too hot outside?
If the weather gets too hot or uncomfortable, we’ll either move inside the library (if possible) or I’ll suggest an alternate nearby coffee shop with advance notice.
What types of books will we read?
Mainly non-fiction, memoirs, and the occasional parenting book. I’m always open to suggestions too!
Is there anything I should bring or prepare?
Please bring a blanket to sit on and come ready to discuss the entire book. No need to bring snacks unless you want to — just bring yourself, your little one, and whatever you need to stay comfortable!
