Zine-apalooza
Join us for Miami Women Social Meetup Group's second event Zine-apalooza on Sunday, May 17, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Coral Reef Park and make your own zine! A zine (short for magazine) is a self-made booklet that you can fill to your heart's content centered around all kinds of interests like art, music, friends, family, home, life, and more. You can get really creative with it! Bring your own magazines (for example, fashion or art magazines), scrap pieces of paper, cut outs, flyers, pamphlets, construction paper, newspapers, etc. that you can see yourself using and cutting out images, patterns, colors, and text from to decorate and create your own zine! Also please be sure to bring your own scissors and glue sticks/double-sided tape to cut and stick with. I will only bring small white blank pages that you can fill with your creations so please be sure to bring the necessary supplies that I mentioned above to make your zine and RSVP with time so I can know how many of the small blank zines to make and bring for members who have RSVP'ed to use. You can also bring blank pages of your own if you have a specific plan or vision in mind for your zine in terms of the scale, color, or texture of the paper. Additional supplies that you can think of bringing, but are not absolutely necessary, are a pencil, pen, colored pencils, permanent markers, or acrylic paint markers (i.e. dry or quick to dry supplies) to color or write with in your zine; stickers of any kind including letter stickers for added text and decorations; and you can print out and bring your own pictures with family and friends or of your favorite places too. These additional supplies are just suggestions to get you thinking about all the possibilities you have with zine making.
The intention is to make this a safe space to create and let our imagination run wild in creating our own unique and one of a kind zines all while getting to know each other a little bit better.
Make sure to bring your own water bottle, snack, hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
Please keep an eye out for any updates or changes to this event, as bad weather, just as an example, may be a factor in postponing the event. More details to come on which area of the park we will meet at exactly.
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message on meetup and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible.
You should be able to RSVP as of now. If you have any problems RSVPing or registering for this event, please let me know.
I hope to see you there!
