Dear beautiful members,
I am so thrilled that within a span of a few days, I have 27 members join Michelle's Asian Tapas.
As the love of Asian food connects us, I am offering the first event of Singapore and Malaysian Tapas (street food) to the members of this group.
The event will take place at Jardim Botânico Tropical in Belém as even though there is an entrance fee of 5€ (payable by you ), we can be rest assured that there is access to toilets, well-maintained spaces and safety while enjoying our picnic!
You are expected to arrive between 16h to 16h30 as we will start our meal at 16h35 with an opening toast to celebrate this new group, something I am very proud of starting with the hopes of one day, starting my own Asian Tapas restaurant in somewhere along the Linha (Cascais-Lisbon)
Menu:
There will be shared snacks, usually consisting of Asian crackers and other different Asian snacks.
First tapas: meat skewers (satay) + rice cakes + peanut sauce & cucumber/onion
Second tapas: chicken & potatoes curry & bread
Third tapas: a surprise!
Finally, an Asian dessert!
I will also prepare a couple of ice-breakers and games. You can participate as you wish.
The fee of 18€ will help me cover the costs of fresh ingredients, my hours of cooking, the disposable cutlery and plates/bowls and napkins and logistics. Thank you!
That equates to only 4.50€ per dish!
(Please see refund policy below.)
Please take note that:
You are responsible for bringing your own beverages and mats.
If there is a friend who wants to come along, he/she needs to join Meetup.com to participate in the event.
Please bring only good vibes and do not make fun of Asian culture, (unless invited in a playful, non-offensive way! :D)
Protect yourself from UV rays as we might be under the sunshine for a few hours. There is no guarantee of shady spots though I will try my best to find a good spot.
As I do not have a car, I would appreciate a trusted volunteer who can pick me up from Parede to Belem (only if it is convenient for you). If not, don't worry, I will manage. I have relocated a few times around the world with up to 5 luggages all by myself!
There will be plenty of wet wipes and disposable gloves as we, Asian people, use our hands a lot to eat. Should you wish to bring some disinfectant gel, please bring it! There will be toilets so you can just wash your hands there. :)
The food will not be piping hot but I will try my best to serve them warm (at least, not cold!)
As much as I love children and animals, I am making all my events adult-only.
The park closes at 20h so we will start to say our goodbyes at 19h (you are of course welcome to leave earlier)
Please do not litter or leave any messes for me or other attendees to clean up. Thank you!
I welcome all nationalities but the main language of communication is English.
Lastly, please be open to taste different cuisines and do not waste any food. If for some reason, you think that you will not eat any dishes, please give them to someone who will savour them!
I look forward to hosting my first event and it warms my heart to know that Asian cuisine is appreciated by many people!
Once again, thank you for joining my group and I cannot wait to eat with you all!
Warm regards,
Michelle T.
RSVP closes on Thursday, 21st May, at 22h so that I can start planning and gathering ingredients the next day.
Group size is limited to 8 people.
All payments must be made to my MBWay or bank transfer before RSVP closes to secure your delicious food!
I have a co-host, Kenza, who is Moroccan and she will grace us with her presence from time to time.
