Welcome to the Michigan Backpacking Meetup Group!

This group is for anyone in the Ann Arbor area who enjoys backpacking (or wants to learn more about it) and would love a casual, no-pressure space to connect with others over coffee. Whether you’re brand new to overnight hiking or a seasoned trail pro, you’re welcome here.

☕ What We Do:
We meet at local coffee shops to share trail stories, gear ideas, trip planning tips, and maybe even sketch out future group hikes. The goal is connection — not pressure. No one is expected to commit to anything beyond conversation unless they truly want to.

🛑 Safety & Respect:
We take emotional and physical safety seriously. No one should feel pressured to go into the woods with someone they don’t know well. If trips form out of friendships here, that’s great — but it’s always voluntary, never expected.

Rules:
• No romantic or sexual advances toward other members — this isn’t that kind of group.
• No private trip invites unless there’s an established friendship or mutual interest.
• Respect everyone’s boundaries and personal pace.
• Harassment or inappropriate behavior = immediate removal.
• Keep things light, friendly, and community-minded.
