No Kings Protest
Details
In Detroit, we don’t put up with would-be kings.
In Detroit, we know what it means to fight for democracy and each other. “No Kings” isn’t just a slogan—it’s a promise: we will not accept violence, scapegoating, or corruption as the price of living in this country.
This administration has made its power grab felt in our daily lives by holding funding for education and lifesaving medical research hostage, driving up the cost of living through reckless tariffs, and stacking courts and agencies with loyalists while firing public servants who dare to speak the truth or even just exist as someone who doesn’t fit the MAGA profile. These choices aren’t abstract: they mean immigrant families torn apart, LGBTQIA+ rights under attack, voices silenced while Palestinians suffer cruelty from a genocide funded by our tax dollars, and communities of color forced to absorb the brunt of violence and funding cuts.
Here in Detroit, we see those impacts every day. We refuse to let them stand.
Now, with interlopers calling for troops to be deployed in Detroit, we must resist wholeheartedly. A militarized presence would only endanger the progress we’ve fought for as a city; what we need instead is unity, care, and investment in our people.
On October 18, we invite you to gather with us in strength and solidarity to show that our movement is growing, rooted in community, and impossible to ignore.
The President and his regime may think his power is absolute. But we know better: in America, we don’t have kings. And in Detroit, we show up and take care of each other.
Who will you show up for?
📍 Where: Roosevelt Park, 2231 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48216

📣 Our Commitment to Care and Community
Our participation in this national day of action is being organized with intention. We are building it as a three-county collective in partnership with local community and labor organizers, and we are centering safety, inclusion, and accessibility in every decision. Because of this—along with citywide events and increased security needs—we are not releasing the event location or specific call to action just yet. Our resistance is stronger when it is careful and collaborative.
Thank you for joining us as we do this work safely and in solidarity!
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
