Micro Frontends Meetup - October 2023

Details
The Micro Frontends Meetup for October 2023. Join us to follow and engage in discussions around micro frontends, implementation details, frameworks, and experience reports.
For this edition we invited two guests to share their insights into micro frontends. They will talk about their circumstances, challenges, and implementation details that worked for them in their project.
Our first guest is Sandra Jurek:
Sandra is a robotics engineer turned front-end engineer in JP Morgan Chase. Her key responsibilities involve leading the Design System engineering team and the front-end architecture of the Chase UK application. Her past experience includes working on projects for leading UK brands, such as Wagamama, Jaguar Land Rover, Boots and Nando's. In her free time she enjoys playing board games and DIY.
She will talk about Micro-Frontends for the Chase UK app:
Over the last few years the idea of creating front-end applications implementing the micro-frontends design approach became increasingly popular. Not surprisingly - developing the application in a modular way empowers the teams to work with their own pace and take more ownership of the code they write. It can also significantly speed up the delivery of features across the project, as long as it is implemented well.
Following the principles of feature driven design can help to take the project one step further, offering the possibility to scale it based on - as the name suggests - the development of the features included in it. Not necessarily features commonly understood in the context of the agile methodology, but the product features - the ones that describe the characteristics of what a particular area in the product (and correspondingly in the codebase) is responsible for.
Our second guest is Philipp Fehrmann:
Philipp is a Netlight consultant from Munich working at VW Elli.
He will talk about Monorepos vs Micro-Frontends:
Philipp will share how and why the team at VW Elli decided to migrate their application into micro-frontends and what decisions, as well as consequences, that involved.
As usual you can participate in the discussion directly via the YouTube or LinkedIn chat function. Additionally, you can send in your questions or ideas upfront via the Meetup group or email.
If you want to be a guest in a future edition (e.g., to share your experiences using micro frontends or to about your project) just get in touch with us. We are happy to receive your ideas and craft the show around your content.
