Distributed Monoliths? Real World Microservices.

Details
Hi all,
We have now the agenda for our next meetup - and as promised it is dedicated to
Vienna's Microservants (and -masters!) - Thursday April 6 - 18:30 - sektor5
• 18:30 Welcome Reception
• 19:00 Hans Sowa: Microservices - The New Distributed Monoliths?
https://a248.e.akamai.net/secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/9/4/f/600_459343343.jpeg
Hans will dive into some common misunderstandings with regards to Microservices Architecture - often leading to a "distributed monolith". This talk will discuss that one can easily end up having the disadvantages of both worlds and actually no advantages. Hans writes: "Let's have a look into the common pitfalls and possible solutions which can avoid a distributed monolith as good as possible. A little spoiler: It is about terms, data orientation and my favourite topic dependencies."
• Break for Networking and Conversations
• 20:00 Christoph Leiter: Real World Microservices - Building https://starjack.at
https://a248.e.akamai.net/secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/9/6/b/600_459343371.jpeg
Using starjack.at as a real world example Christoph will show what it takes to create a microservices architecture from scratch. This talk will give a broad overwiew of necessary devops tools: Infrastructure as Code, automated server provisioning, scheduling Docker containers in a cluster and cloud logging. From the development side we will cover how to partition a system into microservices, communication between services and some lessons learnt.
We will close around 21:00!
And hey you: Vienna Software Companies! Do you feel an urgent desire to sponsor the beverages for our evening? :-) Then get in contact with me via meetup! By the way: O'Reilly and dpunkt.verlag will again send us some books. Thank you!
