What we’re about
We are a group of "Azurers". People with their heads in the Cloud, passionate about building amazing stuff on the Microsoft Azure Platform. We unite everyone from Azure newbie to expert, from developer to IT-pro and from startup to enterprise. If you are interested in Cloud Computing with Microsoft, please join our meetup. All our sessions are in English. In case of questions or if you would like to contribute as an organizer, speaker or sponsor, please contact the organizers. Follow us at https://twitter.com/azurezurich.
All our slides are published to SpeakerDeck: https://speakerdeck.com/azurezurich
We want people to be nice to each other. If you participate in the Azure Zurich User Group events, you are obliged to follow our code of conduct: https://dotnetday.ch/coc.html#english. Thanks!

Session 1: Real Life Cloud Journey to MS Fabric
Based on a real customer case we embark on a journey from an on-prem Datawarehouse ETL process (MSSQL, SSIS and IBM Cognos) to Microsoft Fabric. The talk will spotlight conceptual and architectural decisions during the project, as well as the experience we had with stumbling blocks because of preview features, bugs, limitations.
From a technical point of view, we choose to go for a metadata driven architecture using classic medallion layer DWH based on lakehouses and warehouses in combination with pipelines, dataflows, and notebooks and classic Power BI artefacts.About Roman
Working as a Microsoft technology consultant started 17 years ago. Coming from classic SharePoint development, raised up along with Azure and Office 365 and finally landed in the data analytics department creating architectural designs of modern DWH in Azure Synapse and Azure Data Factory. Since the announcement at Build we are heavily focusing on Microsoft Fabric and lift and shift customers to this new product empowering themselves to implement workloads on their own.LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/roman-rietmann-a6b501128/
Session 2: Data Driven Decisions Thanks to Fabric and AI
AI and algorithms have become an essential part of every organization that aims to become a data-driven company. Thanks to automated pattern recognition in AI, companies can now handle their data deluge and fully leverage it. In this presentation, we will demonstrate how Microsoft Fabric can be used to deal with ever-increasing amounts of data and activate AI algorithms on the data. Thanks to the seamless integration between data, analytics, and AI, professionals can now generate new insights from the data and steer the company more effectively.
Specifically, we will cover:
Handling Big Data on Fabric Data Lakehouse
AI analytics with Fabric Notebooks
Insights through integrated Power BI
Integration of AI into live data streams (Fabric KustoDB)About Alex:

# GPT models with your own data using Azure OpenAI The emergence of generative AI holds the promise of significantly altering various aspects of our daily lives. At the same time, the large language models (LLMs) are designed as general-purpose black boxes and their utility is initially confined to the data they were trained on. However, it's possible to extend their reasoning to any custom, business- or domain-specific data set, opening avenues for more personalized and insightful interactions with these powerful AI tools.
This session explores the essential architectural components within Azure that ease this integration, offering a streamlined pathway for both individuals and organizations to harness the capabilities of OpenAI models - and embed it into their own products and services.About Filip:
Filip is a Microsoft Quantum (Azure HPC & AI Infrastructure) MVP, author of the academic textbook "Introduction to Quantum Computing with Q# and QDK”, frequent conference speaker and a maintainer of several open source projects. He specializes in cloud technologies, programming language tooling and quantum computing. Filip is based in Zürich where he works in the medical industry (Sonova) as a Cloud Architect. He blogs about a wide range of technical topics at
