What we’re about
Are you interested in Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL, Databricks or good ol' trusty SQL Server? If so, join us and over 1900 fellow data enthusiasts!
Our topics cover everything from the latest and greatest Azure Data offerings to the on-premises Microsoft Data Platform products we've used for years, from analytics to performance tuning - and everything in between! Our goals are to share knowledge, present new technologies, discuss, network, and have fun. Whether you are a database administrator or database developer, a business intelligence professional or a business analyst, a data scientist or a student: you're most welcome to join us 😃
Code of Conduct
All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout all meetups. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
The Quick Version
Our meetups are dedicated to providing a harassment-free meetup experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of meetup participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any meetup venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Meetup participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from meetups without a refund at the discretion of the organizers.
The Less Quick Version
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the meetup organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from meetups with no refund.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a meetup organizer immediately.
Organizers will be happy to help participants contact security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the meetup. We value your attendance.
We expect participants to follow these rules at meetup and workshop venues and meetup-related social events.

See all- Mastering the Execution Plan to Tune SQL Server/Azure SQL/SQL in FabricBDO Oslo, Oslo
This is a paid external event - RSVP here will not give you a ticket.
Get your tickets here! You're a DBA or T-SQL developer, and you have a decent enough knowledge of T-SQL and getting SQL Server, Azure SQL Database or SQL Database in Fabric to do what you want. But some of your code runs slowly, and you run into issues like deadlocks and timeouts. Maybe you've already looked at some execution plans, but you really want to understand them at a deeper level, in order to make your queries run smoother.
In our full-day workshop, we’ll work hands-on with performance tuning your database, starting with the basics of indexing, understanding execution plans and their operators, and how to rewrite your indexes and queries to get just the right plan. These are patterns and practices I’ve collected over 25 years of performance tuning SQL Server.
We’ll cover- How a SQL Server query runs
- Pages, heaps, indexes, and the transaction log
- Scans, seeks, lookups, sargability
- Optimizing joins, aggregations
- Window functions
- How to measure and monitor performance
- Useful optimization patterns
- Using columnstore indexes
- Parallelism
- Parameter sniffing
- What hints to use for development, test or production
- Locking, blocking, deadlocks and isolation levels
We won’t be looking at hardware or infrastructure - the idea is to set you up for success irrespectively of whatever underlying CPUs, disks, or PaaS tier you’re working on.
After this workshop, you’ll- have a good understanding of how SQL Server runs queries
- be able to understand, redesign and leverage indexes
- rewrite your T-SQL code to get the best execution plan
Recommended, but not required: a laptop with a Remote Desktop client, if you want to follow along in the demos.
- DataSaturday Oslo 2025Campus Fjerdingen | Høyskolen Kristiania, Oslo
We are once again organizing a full day conference with 36 sessions across 6 tracks - and the schedule looks fantastic!
