Abstract:

From SQL Server to Microsoft Fabric: Choosing the Right Integration Pattern

This session explores the architectural options for making SQL Server and Azure SQL data available in Microsoft Fabric - from low-latency mirroring and CDC-based event ingestion to controlled batch processing and custom incremental loading patterns.

You will learn how to evaluate Mirroring, Copy Jobs, Data Pipelines, Dataflow Gen2, and CETAS exports, based on latency requirements, data volume, source-system capabilities, network constraints, transformation needs, operational complexity, and long-term maintainability.

Covering both on-premises SQL Server and Azure SQL Database, we will examine the differences between CDC-based mirroring for earlier SQL Server versions and the SQL Server 2025 Change Feed architecture.

For scenarios requiring greater control, the session demonstrates how metadata-driven pipelines, Copy Jobs, Dataflow Gen2, and CETAS-based exports can complement or replace mirroring.
