Building Progressive Web Apps with Nitya Narasimhan | Web Wednesday

Details

Progressive Web Apps are web apps that use modern browser supported APIs with a traditional progressive enhancement strategy, to create cross-platform application experiences that feel “native” to mobile and desktop users. We’ll talk about PWAs from core concepts, to code development, deployment, and limitations. And we’ll explore PWA-friendly tools, platforms and technologies at Microsoft – from PWA Builder (open-source), to PWAs on Microsoft Edge (for Windows/Mac), to PWAs from Blazor WebAssembly apps, and dual-screen friendly PWAs (for Surface Duo).

Presenter:
Christopher Harrison, Senior Cloud Advocate, Microsoft
Christopher is a longtime web dev who turned a coding hobby into a career. Currently a Senior Cloud Advocate at Microsoft, he never lost the joy he felt in writing code and having the computer do what he asked and sharing that passion with others. These days he can be found at a keyboard writing TypeScript and Python. When not at a keyboard he can be found running long distances or relaxing with his wife and their four-legged child (an adorable dog) in Seattle.

Nitya Narasimhan, SR Cloud Advocate Program Manager, Microsoft
Nitya Narasimhan is a PhD and Nitya is a PhD and Polyglot with 20+ years of software research and development experience spanning industry, academia, startups and community. She is a Senior Cloud Advocate at Microsoft, where she helps developer communities explore Cloud + AI through mobile, web and visual storytelling lenses.
