- 41 Years Later….Spinal Tap II Is Finally Here!Asia's Finest, Lansing, MI
Summary: We eat Vietnamese at Asia’s Finest at 6pm, followed by watching Spinal Tap II at Celebration Cinema at 8pm. A more verbose description follows:
As a high school student, I fell in love with the cult classic This Is Spinal Tap. For those of you who are unaware of the film, it is a “mockumentary” about a “washed up” British heavy metal band touring the US on the backbone of their new album “Smell The Glove”. The movie was groundbreaking as a form of parody comedy and featured early performances by Billy Crystal, Dana Carvey, Ed Begley Jr., and Fran Drescher, as well as more established actors including Angelica Huston, Howard Hessman, and David Letterman band director Paul Shaffer.
Now, 41 years later, most of the original cast have reformed to create Spinal Tap II: The End Continues (trailer). Illustrating the profound impact the original had on the musical community, musicians like Paul McCartney, Elton John, Garth Brooks, Questlove, Trisha Yearwood, and Metallica’s Lars Ulrich all contributed cameos to the sequel.
Tickets are not yet on sale, but as soon as they are I will buy a ticket, post my seat location, and then folks can buy a ticket wherever they see fit.
To prepare for the show, it seems fitting (and convenient) to have Vietnamese food at Asia’s Finest, which features some of the best pho in town!
I am down for Big Bottom, Sex Farm, and Stonehenge!! Are you?
- Let's Share Chinese Food!!Everyday Authentic Chinese Cuisine, East Lansing, MI
A great local place with solidly authentic Chinese dishes!
The plan is to have each of us order 1-2 dishes that seem tasty (apps and/or mains) and then all of us simply split what is at the table. At the end of the night we will just divide the check evenly so paying is simple. I have been to China several times and the practice of ordering lots of dishes and sharing with all is quite common, if not the norm for eating out with friends. You can view your menu options here.
I would truly love to see folks come and feast, perhaps tell 2 truths and a lie or another fun game, and generally enjoy each others excellent company.t
