See all- S^3: Stir-Fry, Salads, & Spinal Tap!!Fueld, East Lansing, MI
So. One of my favorite movies of all time, This is Spinal Tap, originally released way back in 1984, is coming back to the big screen. It is a “mockumentary” about a fictitious English rock band coming back to the US for their tour. The movie has a lot going for it:
- a 96/100 rating on Rotten Tomatoes
- a huge cult following
- was the genesis of the many Christopher Guest mocumentaries made in the 90s and early 2000s, including Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, and A Mighty Wind.
- the originator of the phrase “turn it up to 11” or “it goes up to 11"
- small roles by Howard Hessman, Billy Crystal, Paul Schaffer (from David Letterman), Ed Begley, Jr., Fran Drescher, Dana Carvey, Angelica Huston, and Fred Willard.
- it had such an impact music that the upcoming sequel will feature Paul McCartney, Elton John, Garth Brooks, Questlove, and Trisha Yearwood.
In anticipation of the release of its long-awaited sequel in September, the original is being re-released on the big screen for one weekend only. It happens to be the weekend of the 4th of July so I have opted for Monday, July 7, at NCG Cinema. I wouldn’t miss this for the world. Care to join me?
To get our “stomachs” ready for the ensuing laughter, I want to try this healthy eating place called “Fueld”. They have everything from ramen, poke bowls, salads, stir-fry, and more. Perfect for omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans.
This will be a fun night!
