What we’re about

Hi, this group meets in person! Please message and join if you live too far to join in person. If I get enough interested people who can't join in person I will change this group to a Hybrid group to meet online and in person.

This group is for anyone in all stages of Improv Acting who want to have fun learning some improv acting skills!

But there's an added challenge!

90% of the improv acting games will be geared towards one crucial aspect! Kindness!

For example: One improv game is basically very simple- you and a partner or other players, simply pass back a repetitive dialogue such as
Person 1: I forgot my important work meeting and my boss demoted me because of that (Improved).....Do you still think I'm pretty? (Repetitive line)
Person 2: Yes, I still think you're pretty! (Repetitve line). My car broke down and I didn't react very well (Improv), do you still think I'm pretty? (Repetitive line)

The group goal is to strengthen creative thinking skills so when life's uncomfortable social moments happen, we have more emotional and mental resilience to bounce back! This group will not focus on mental health, and this group will remain with no political agendas. The only agenda of this group is to build resilience for when we encounter ugly social interactions such as when a random person in a movie theater insults you loudly for no reason! The goal is to give people a chance to play around with improv acting in a way that helps them own their narrative of embarassing public moments. In this digital age, and as new trends emerge, I find it very important to start teaching everyone how to be vulnerable and silly!

I'm also hoping from time to time to include some mini-discussions and brainstorm sessions on how real life law enforcement uses deesclation tactics and how negotiations made in high stakes situations has some small things in common with what makes a good actor an even better improv actor!
