Hike roughly 7.0 miles; moderately difficult with water crossings, rocky terrain, 180-foot elevation gains (in places 15% grade). Wild upper reaches of Gans Creek, bordered by limestone cliffs, punctuated by scenic oak woodlands – all within the 750-acre Gans Creek Wild Area, designated for the preservation of ‘natural & wild places’ and ‘biodiversity’.

What to Bring: sturdy hiking boots, water, snacks to share, hiking stick (if desired).

Why: To experience the beauty and health benefits of trails in the vicinity of Columbia, MO; to be an advocate for our wild & scenic resources. And to meet like-minded people who love hiking in the Ozark Highlands.
