9AM START. BE ON TIME. MEET AT THE SARATOGA GAP PARKING LOT . PARKING MAY BE LIMITED, SO COME EARLY.

PARKING
Park at SARATOGA GAP PARKING LOT- ((37.25889995789029, -122.11940494026095))- also starting point. If the lot is full, there is plenty of parking street side at the intersection of Rt. 35 (Skyline) & Rt. 9.

DETAILS
9.7-mile loop trail near Saratoga, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 30 min to complete. ~1,650 total elevation gain. This is a popular trail for birding and hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are not allowed on this trail.

WHAT TO EXPECT
We will execute the trail counter clockwise. For the the first 5.7 miles we will continually-ish descend ~1,000 ft. Then we will continually ascend ~1,000 ft back to the cars. The hike is mostly shaded with few parts that will be exposed. It is expected to be a beautiful sunny day in low 60s- with may be nippy at the start given descent early, altitude and tree cover. So pls bring your layers, water.

Note that this is a CASUAL/ SOCIAL hiking group (not for either competitive hikers or weekend strollers)- as such the group accommodates to conditions and skill levels of participants to maintain reasonable pace (~2 - 2.5 miles/ hr) with stops. Fast hikers are welcome but must stop at all intersections to ensure no one is lost.
