RESTROOM ONLY AVAILABLE 0.2 MILES AWAY AT MCLURES BEACK PARKING LOT HERE.

DETAILS
Flowers, Elk, Ocean views. The Tomales Point Trail offers spectacular views of Tomales Bay, Bodega Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. Traveling to the end of the Point Reyes Peninsula, this hike is a Bay Area favorite! Visitors are drawn to majestic, clear views in the winter, vibrant blooms in the spring, and bugling and rutting Tule Elk in the summer and fall The first 3 miles leading to the Historic Pierce Point Ranch are well marked and maintained, but the last stretch can be overgrown with bush lupine and other shrubs, so long pants and long sleeves are a good idea. The journey all the way to the point is worth it. Fog and wind can limit visibility and make this hike more challenging.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Total elevation gain about 1,200 ft- moderate mostly for the length. The first ~2 miles we will ascend ~200ft. Then mostly downhill to minor elevation next 4 miles. Then finally 400ft of elevation gain back to cars. The hike is almost all unshaded so bring sun protection if you need it. We will go through some brush so pls wear/ bring pants and long sleeves. Bring >1.5L of water as there are no water stations along route. It may be windy/ possibly foggy and nippy at Tomales Point itself- so be prepared and wear layers.
