Easy bike ride on the Western Maryland Rail Trail (WMRT) out of Hancock, MD.

The surface is paved, but lumpy in spots due to tree roots, so feel free to bring any reasonably well maintained bicycle.

A helmet is a must for any ride I lead. Even if the law says you don't have to wear one, as the trip leader, I prefer not having to handle a head injury if at all possible.

Only Class 1 e-bikes are allowed on the WMRT (not full throttle - pedal assist that doesn't exceed 20mph). Please message me directly if you plan to bring an e-bike.

The distance we choose to ride is flexible. The entire WMRT is 28 miles long stretching from Big Pool, MD to Little Orleans, MD. Starting in Hancock (just about 1/2 way) allows anyone participating to do an out and back ride from Hancock to Little Orleans, OR continue down to Big Pool and back for a total of 56 miles. Ride your ride.

The pace is social and around 8-10mph.

Please come prepared with plenty of water and snacks, and a bike tube that's properly sized for your bike tires - flats happen.

This ride will run even with a chance of sprinkles. I'll cancel if the weather is more significant. The call will be made around noon the day before.

Optional: Stop at the Blue Goose for PIE or other baked goods.
