Hike Bald Mountain (not Bald Rock) west of Camden
Details
This is a very popular hike but it's always worth doing. Bald Mountain, at 1280 feet, is the fifth highest mountain on the eastern seaboard. This is a 2.8 mile round trip hike with spectacular views in every direction at the top. There is not too much huffing and puffing on this one, round trip only about 2.5 hours. Like every "mountain" hike in Maine, you do need to be in good physical shape.
The hike is moderate with one fairly brief steep section, hiking shoes are required as usual. A hiking stick or poles are always a good idea too. Remember water and a snack for the top.
We will meet at the Georges Highland Path Trailhead (I believe the sign says "Coastal Mountains Land Trust") to access Bald Mountain Trail off Barnestown Road in Camden. Driving from Camden towards Hope, the parking lot sign for the trailhead is easy to see on your left.
Arrive at 8:45, hike starts at 9:00 am.
If you are not feeling at the top of your game, please do not sign up for this hike. Covid isn't finished with us yet.
