Malaga Island Paddle

Details
Join Midcoast Paddlers for a fun kayaking adventure to Malaga Island. This paddle is one of the group's favorites and I am looking forward to seeing many of you there. We put in at the Town of Harpswell public boat ramp at Bethel Point. Unload your kayak and gear, then park in the boatyard lot. There is a cost to park; although, I have been unable to determine the cost this year so I suggest bringing a $5 and five $1s. I don't think it will be more than $10. I will collect the parking fee and deliver them in total to the house.
Paddles wet at 9:30
High tide at 9:42
If the conditions allow, the group might decide to first paddle out around beautiful Flag Island as I would like to introduce it to you. We will not be able to stop as it is closed to the public from April 1 to September 1 due to bird nesting activity. Flag has one of the largest colonies of nesting eider in all of Maine, and the largest in Casco Bay.
The Natural Resources Council of Maine was able to conserve this island with funds from the Land for Maines Future program, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Coastal Wetlands Conservation Program, Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund, Casco Bay National Estuary Project, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, and two oil spill compensation funds. IF&W now manages Flag Island.
Hope to see you there,
Jean
