We will meet at the Montgomery Bell State Park Visitors Center, address 1020 Jackson Hill Rd., Burns, TN 37029. We will carpool approximately 2 miles to the trailhead.
Randy Hedgepath, retired Tennessee State Naturalist, will lead us on a 2-mile hike on natural trails. We will begin the hike on an “unofficial trail” leading to the Hall Springs Trail. We will cross a stream with rocks available to step on as we cross. (Water shoes and poles are optional.) The trail winds through open woods, featuring dense undergrowth and wetland areas. The area is popular for birding and other wildlife including otters, fox, and squirrels.
