Frozen Head - 18 miles!!

18+ miles and 6,000+ ft of elevation in about 12 hours!! If this sounds fun, then come!!

This is an especially strenuous hike with many significant ups and downs, starting with 1,500 ft of elevation in the first 2.6 miles! We will start the hike using the N. Bird Mountain Trail to cross over Bird Mountain and proceed to Garden Spot. This first 10 miles is quite rugged! Next we'll travel on an old road to reach Frozen Head Tower. We'll finish the hike by utilizing the Spicewood Trail downhill to the Old Mac Trailhead (where we started).

**Note: there are multiple interweaving trails at Frozen Head which offer early exits for any who may struggle and feel unable to complete all 18 miles.

We plan to stay together as a group. We will take an ample number of water/snack breaks as well as a lunch break. Please bring 3-5 liters of water along with lunch and snacks.

If there is significant rain before the hike, there will be some creek crossings with the possibility of wet feet (though we can usually hop across).

-Pets on a leash are allowed and must be able to keep up with the group.
-Bring plenty of water! Sunscreen is recommended (trail is mostly shaded). And bug/tick spray!
