What we’re about

At Dance With Patrick, classes are designed to take you from absolute beginner to feeling comfortable and confident on the dance floor in just eight weeks. Starting on May 7th, this course is perfect for anyone who has never danced before or wants to build a solid foundation in salsa while enjoying the music, movement, and social side of dance.

Each class follows a structured yet relaxed format, allowing you to learn step by step without feeling rushed. We begin with a warm-up, getting your body moving and comfortable with basic rhythms. This is followed by solo steps, where you’ll learn essential footwork that forms the building blocks of salsa. These steps are broken down clearly, giving you time to practice and refine your movements before we move on to partner work.

In the partner section, you’ll learn how to lead and follow, focusing on connection, smooth transitions, and building confidence in dancing with others. Every class will introduce a short choreography, combining the steps you’ve learned in a fun and dynamic way. This helps you retain what you’ve practiced while giving you the experience of dancing in a real social setting.

To make sure you don’t just learn in class but also feel comfortable at social events, each session ends with a 30-minute social dance practice. This is your time to apply what you’ve learned in a relaxed environment, experiment with the steps, and start enjoying the real magic of salsa—connecting with the music and your dance partner in a natural way.

By the end of the eight weeks, you’ll have built a strong foundation, gained confidence, and be ready to step onto the dance floor at any social event, moving with ease and enjoyment. Whether you’re learning for fun, fitness, or to meet new people, this course is about more than just dance—it’s about discovering the joy and energy that comes with it.

To truly experience the energy of a full salsa night, I’m also organizing two social dance events in Midleton during the course. These will take place once a month and will last for around three hours, giving you the chance to dance in a real social setting, meet other dancers, and enjoy not just salsa but also other Latin rhythms. These events will help you build confidence, apply what you’ve learned in class, and immerse yourself in the fun and community that make social dancing so special.
