Midtown Memoir Writer's Sunday ZOOM Meetup
Details
Welcome to the NINTH Zoom/online meeting of the MMWG!
The format is done this way for a reason. It may seem "strict" but it's easy once you do it a few times. I will help you w/ anything you need to ensure your "success." The biggest success is preparing a piece to submit & then reading/critiquing your colleagues.
Thursday/Feb 19th
- 12:00 pm: Please RSVP + $5 dues are due. Please pay by Venmo @Laura-Cafiso
- By 8 pm: I'll send out email to share who has RSVPed
- 11:59 pm: Those of us who are "Yes RSVPS" will email our submissions to that group of Readers/Writers with the email addresses I've provided (basically send it so we have it by Friday morning to start reading/reviewing)
- Word count is 500 - 2000 words, subject to change depending on how many RSVPs we have.
- Please title your Word doc like this > First Name Initial Period Last Name_ Date Submission_Word Count
For ex: L. Cafiso_1.25.26 Submission_1200
Fri, Feb 20th - Sun, Feb 22nd: read and critique each others' pieces
Saturday, Feb 21st Sunday meeting's ZOOM link will be sent out via email & NOT ON MEETUP PLATFORM, so please pay attention to your email.
Sunday, Feb 22nd 12 Noon: MEET ON ZOOM & SHARE!
We do a check-in (how's everyone doing?!) and then launch into each person giving their critique of another member's piece by "sharing screens."
Know that with the topic of memoir and creative nonfiction, we delve into the triumphs and tragedies of Life. We've covered all kinds of topics, such as coming of age, death/grief, sex, etc. So if any of that makes you squeamish, either be prepared to expand your comfort level or this may not be the group for you.
On that note, we welcome ALL and do not tolerate discrimination/hate speech or any of that nonsense. Thank you!
