๐ฅ Midwest Bonfire Night at Dockweiler Beach ๐ฅ
Details
Nothing says summer like a bonfire on the beach โ and nothing says Midwest like gathering around a fire with good people. Whether you just moved to LA or you've been here a while and still miss that warm, neighborly energy back home, come hang with your people at Dockweiler!
***
THE PLAN We're taking over a fire pit at Dockweiler Beach for an evening of good vibes, s'mores, and that classic Midwest "just show up and have fun" energy. A few of us will head out early to snag a fire pit, but fair warning โ fire pits at Dockweiler are first come, first served, and we can't guarantee one on a busy June Saturday. No worries though โ we have back up options! We can kick back on the beach and catch what's going to be a gorgeous sunset, or head to a nearby bar or restaurant to keep the hang going. Either way, the night won't be a bust โ we're here for the people, not just the pit! ๐

WHAT TO BRING ๐ช Your own chair or blanket โฑ๏ธ Beach umbrella or canopy if you want some shade for the earlier part of the evening ๐บ Your own drinks (alcohol is allowed โ keep it in a cup/can, no glass on the beach!) ๐ญ Snacks, food, anything you want to cook over the fire
What we'll have covered: โ
Wood & fire-starting supplies โ
Skewers โ
S'mores fixings (graham crackers, chocolate, marshmallows)
PARKING Dockweiler State Beach โ 12001 Vista Del Mar, Playa del Rey, CA 90293
Park in the numbered lots along Vista Del Mar Blvd. Aim for Lot 3 (the southernmost lot) โ it's closest to the fire pit area. Parking is around $15โ$20 at the kiosk.
HOW TO FIND US Once we're set up, we'll post our location in the comments so you can find us easily. You can also drop a comment or message the organizer when you arrive and we'll wave you down. ๐

A FEW GOOD-TO-KNOWS
- No glass containers on the beach
- Dress in layers โ warm at 5pm, cooler once the sun goes down
- Sunset is around 8pm and from Dockweiler it's chef's kiss ๐
- Fun fact: you're right under the LAX flight path โ low-flying planes every few minutes, and honestly it never gets old
Come for the fire, stay for the feeling of finally finding your people out here. ๐ ๐ฅ
