Blackhawk Ridge Trail, Mazomanie – Evening Hike

This hike is open to everyone and friendly dogs are welcomed. This 6.1 mile route starts at the Blackhawk Unit Parking Lot and takes you around the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway through beautiful wooded areas, in a peaceful atmosphere, and diverse habitats, this is a hidden gem. You can cross-country ski here and ride horses. It begins with an intense and challenging incline and then levels off until the end when you return to where you started. What to Bring
Please bring water, electrolytes, snacks, bug spray and trekking poles are always a good thing if you use them. There are no restrooms at the trailhead.
Directions
We will meet at 5:30pm at the Blackhawk Unit Parking Lot, 7078 WI-78, Mazomanie, WI 53560. The coordinates 43.23967, -89.72736.
The Black Hawk Ridge trails are located on State Highway 78 approximately 2.5 miles south of US Highway 12. They are just 3 miles southeast of the village of Sauk City, and about 15 miles northwest of the Madison area. I will be by my truck which is a black Toyota 4 Runner with red mountains on the sides.

Fees
There is no fee for this day hike and no parking pass is needed.
Afterwards
If anybody feels up to it, we could head into Sauk City and have dinner at Jose‘s Mexican Restaurant, which is just minutes away.
