Hellfire Club & Massey's Wood

Details

Meet at carpark for 09.45am

Continuing our Megalithic Tombs, Tors, and Cairns series with a nice Dublin Mountains loop taking in the Owendoher River, Massy's Estate, the Hell Fire Club (383m), aka Montpelier Hill, and a bit of the Dublin Mountains Way. Massy's was once the estate of Baron Massy and former site of Killakee House (demolished in 1941).

We will take a short detour to view the small Killakee Wedge Tomb in Massey's Estate.

Our route also includes Massey's Estate with it's beautiful woodlands and the riverside walk. Part of the original Military Road runs through the Estate. This walk provides wonderful views of Dublin city and neighbouring hills such as Tibradden Mountain, The Fairy Castle, Kilmashogue, and Cruagh.
