Begin Where You Are: Public Speaking for Beginners & Beyond
Details
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending”
No matter where you are in your life or public speaking journey, you’re welcome to join us at Mile High Speaking Den to build confidence, find your voice, and write your own story- together with a supportive community.
This is the very first gathering of Mile High Speaking Den, and we’re keeping it simple, welcoming, and low-pressure.
The theme for our first meeting is “Beginning”, a perfect way to start both this group and your speaking journey with us this new year!
We’ll meet for about one hour, structured to help everyone feel comfortable and included:
🕒 First 10 minutes
Arrive, settle in, and casually meet a few people. No formal networking, just easy conversations.
🎤 Next 15 minutes
The organizers will introduce themselves, share why this group was started, what we’re building together, and our long-term vision of growing into a Toastmasters club while keeping the same supportive community to further develop our public speaking, communication, and leadership skills.
🗣️ Final 30 minutes: Speaking Activity
We’ll play a light, interactive speaking game centered around the theme Beginning.
You’ll be invited (never required) to volunteer for short 1–2 minute speaking turns based on simple prompts related to beginnings- personal, professional, or anything you’d like to share.
There is no pressure to be perfect, no forced speaking, and no formal evaluations. You’re welcome to speak, listen, or simply observe, whatever feels right for you.
After the meeting, anyone who wants to can stick around for optional beers, snacks, and relaxed conversation.
Whether this is your first time speaking in a group or you’ve done it before, this meeting is about starting where you are and taking the first step together.
We’re excited to begin with you.
