Lunch Bunch - Female Rulebreakers and Trailblazers of Painting with Anita Moore
Details
Join us as MillHouse Studio Artist and classically trained vocal musician Anita Moore introduces us to the exciting world of the female artists who blazed the trail.
In this installment of the series, we will explore the life and legacy of a groundbreaking female artist who helped reshape the art world and paved the way for generations to come. Rachel Ruysch, a 17th-century Dutch still life painter, specialized in floral painting and developed a distinctive style marked by extraordinary precision and artistic skill—often eclipsing many of her male contemporaries. She achieved international fame during her lifetime while maintaining her own name, raising ten children, and sustaining a remarkably long career spanning more than six decades. Today, she is recognized as the best-documented female painter of the Dutch Golden Age.
The Lunch Bunch Speaker Series is an informal conversation around topics of interest to members and nonmembers. Lunch is not provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. All are welcome. The event is free.
