What we’re about
• outdoor enthusiasts who want to meet new people, see new places, learn new skills and teach others
• people who like to spend a few hours hiking a trail, paddling at a state park or weekend camping
• the experienced experts and first-time newbies
One of the most important aspects about our group is to get out of the city and connect with nature.

PROFILE PICTURES: We REQUIRE your profile picture to be a headshot (clearly showing your face and head and without sunglasses and mask.)
Our event hosts identify everyone when they arrive for an event and will be looking at your picture on their small cell phone screen which is why we ask for a "headshot" "school picture" picture format. If you are attempting to hide your identity in the photo, then this group is not for you. We are not a dating group and will ban you if you choose to behave inappropriately.
***************************************************************
Currently, we do NOT have dues. The organizers are volunteers; not paid staff. We do have a MeetUp.com group fee of $200 per year. Please help support us with a contribution.
***************************************************************
This is an active group with members who participate in our events (or at least stay aware of the events). Periodically the Leadership Team will review member participation information provided by MeetUp.com (RSVPs, events attended, and your review of our group page.) If this information shows you have not at least viewed our calendar or an event page for more than one year you could be removed from the group.
***************************************************************
OUR GROUP IS MEMBER DRIVEN! Please consider hosting a hike, campout or other activity in your area. Just contact someone on the Leadership Team to get started!
Lastly, we periodically host new member orientations. We hope you can attend one soon. Glad to have you in our group and can't wait to see what YOU can teach US!

Hiking at Minooka Park, Waukesha
Location visible to membersMinooka Park is part of the Waukesha County Park System and is a hiking gem. Located at 1927 E. Sunset Drive, Waukesha (Corners of Racine and Sunset), this 579 acre park is Waukesha County’s largest. This will be a 5-6 mile intermediate level hike (approx 1.75 hrs). I also host the Lake Country Friends, Boomers, and Milwaukee Social groups at the same time so there is always someone hiking. Dogs welcome. After the hike, we can grab a beverage at the Beer Garden late spring/summer/fall when temperature is above 60F -- see TheTapYards.com or Tap Yard Waukesha Facebook page, During winter season we can go to a local establishment such as Raised Grain, or Tally's Tap, or Neighbors.
••• This is an INTERMEDIATE skill hike ••• There is some challenging terrain with an elevation change of over 300 feet. About 2/3 into the hike we walk up the sledding hill - or those that aren't able to can take the road and meet us at the top. Bring water.
HELP: Am looking for someone to guide another group that is interested in a Beginner / CASUAL / shorter hike. I can teach you the trails. Both groups can meet up after the hikes!!
••• Park entry requires a Daily or Annual (recommended) pass. Park is monitored by cameras at entrance and exit. Get your pass here:- https://www.waukeshacounty.gov/landandparks/park-system/park-fees/ ***
Parking location is different for summer versus winter based on The Tap Yard beer garden being open/those restrooms open.
SUMMER - First / beach Parking Lot and meet at the Beer Garden, Spring thr mid-October
WINTER - SECOND parking lot (Picnic Areas 1&2, across from Dog Park access road), meet at the restrooms (all restrooms stay open except for those at the Beer Garden).1 attendee
