What we’re about

Our organization, Mitobyte, puts on several tech focused events in the Milwaukee community. Currently we have Code & Coffee, Code + Brews, Hackreation and our Resume Workshops.

A Milwaukee coding meetup for any dev-curious, aspiring, or professional developer to work/hack on your project. Or learn to code in an afternoon with coffee and cool-inclusive people. All skill levels are welcome. Bring your laptop! Details are on individual event pages.

Our October Code and Coffee will kick off our Wisconsin Tech Month events. The event will be held at Wantable Cafe and our own Tony Nilles will be presenting `Amazon's Culture of Innovation`.

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming networking and coding event. This gathering is designed to foster connections within our local tech community. Whether you are a seasoned professional, a hobbyist, or just getting your feet wet in the world of coding, there's a place for you here. The event will offer opportunities for both individual coding and collaborative projects, accommodating different styles and preferences. If you'd prefer to engage in insightful conversations and discussions, you will find plenty of fellow software developers eager to share their experiences and ideas. Our goal is to facilitate a relaxed environment where knowledge exchange, collaboration, and innovation are the natural outcomes.

Hackreation 2025 - Everyday Tools Reimagined

As part of Wisconsin Tech Month, Mitobyte, Latinos in Tech, and Milky Way Tech Hub are teaming up to bring you Hackreation 2025 - a one-day hackathon full of collaboration, creativity, and community.

📍 Location: Penrod, Downtown Milwaukee
📅 Date: October 18th, 2025
🥐 Food: Breakfast & Lunch Provided
🌟 Theme: Everyday Tools Reimagined

We use simple tools every day, calendars, to-do lists, weather apps, but what if we reimagined them in bold, creative ways?

🗳️ Challenge & Voting

Idea Voting: Starts at Code & Coffee (Oct 4) and closes at Code + Brews (Oct 8). For inspiration, view some examples here.

Winning Idea: The top-voted idea becomes the main hackathon challenge.

Teams: Formed on arrival, no pre-made teams required. You’ll join others based on skills and project interest.

Main Certificate: Teams working on the winning idea will compete for The Golden Byte, awarded to the best implementation.
Other Projects: You may also build from the idea board. These won’t qualify for the main certificate but are eligible for recognition:

👉 Bonus twist: A special engineering team from (to be announced soon!) will also build their version of the winning idea and help judge the best implementation.
