Friends of ours were in the devastating apartment fire on mother's day on 27th and Highland in Milwaukee. They still haven't been allowed back into the building to retrieve their belongings and they have no idea if or when they will be able to. Most people have been left with nothing and ran or leaped from the building barefoot or with only socks on their feet. You may be thinking that there are services that will help. In limited capacity but most tenants have no car and returned to work or school the next day and frankly are traumatized and are trying to find a place to live and can't necessarily make it to pick up much needed items if items are even available.

PLEASE bring only clean items in good or new condition. Thank you.

Search your closets for clothes. Yes used but reasonable. Shoes and socks. For Men and women. Shoe sizes will range from smaller to larger. I know for sure a size 8 women's shoe is needed. Big men's and regular men's sizes of clothes. Women from petite to XL. Kids. Big kids and toddler. Diapers. Wipes. This is a filling in for people who may or may not be able to retrieve anything from their apartment. So even things like a bookbags or purses or wallets that are used but in good condition and things like that. New bras. New underwear and socks for men and women. Shoes. Men's and women's shoes. Think of that pair or pairs of shoes you will never wear again.

Personal care. Everything that you can think of for men, women and children. Most of the residents of this building are Black and therefore could use Black hair care products for men, women and children.

Household items. Please bring sheets, blankets, new pillows and towels. Those who have found housing will need everything to make up a household. Kitchen. Bedroom. Bathroom. Living room.

Air mattresses would really help right now!

Tote bags and suitcases to carry items.

Bus passes and gas cards.

Some extra love such as toys for children. Food for cats and dogs.
