At some point in our careers we find ourselves having to integrate our web apps into Facebook in some form or another. But Facebook's platform is a moving target. Getting started can be overwhelming since the platform is in constant flux. In this talk I will explain what graph theory is and how we can use it to better understand Facebook's development platform. I'll reveal many of the "gotchas" you'll run into when you start to integrate your PHP app into the Facebook platform using the new PHP SDK v5. By the end of this talk you will have the confidence to dive deeply into Facebook's social-graph rabbit hole.
Sammy Kaye Powers has been making things on the web for fifteen years. Sammy spends the bulk of his time in coffee shops cranking out loads of Facebook apps for ad agencies. He is a top contributor of the official Facebook PHP SDK and blogs about Facebook development at SammyK.me. He is also the organizer of the Chicago Facebook Developers user group, co-organizer of the Chicago PHP user group and host of the PHPRoundtable.com podcast.
***Additionally, we'll have a PHPStorm license to raffle off at the meeting. Here's your chance to get your hands on the leading PHP development tool.
