The Secret to Happiness: A Two Day Retreat with 7 Steps to Happy Living
Named as such after a past participant described how they felt they had learned the secret to happiness, this retreat is based on Aham Shoonyam’s flagship program called Attention Training & Realignment Program (ATR).This programme is designed by Aham Shoonyam ji who is from ancient Himalayan traditions of spirituality. When he first visited the UK three years ago he felt the need to express this profound ancient wisdom in a way that is accessible and practical for everyone.
From this intention, the programme at the heart of this retreat was born. It's designed so that everyone can understand and apply these timeless truths in their daily life, avoiding complex theories and instead providing a direct path for personal transformation.
This powerful 7 step method trains the mind to let go of unnecessary mental patterns which create stress or other issues in the mind and to either replace these with positive patterns or to simply rest in the stillness of being aware. It also opens up the possibility of discovering the true nature of the self, which is also described as self-realisation.

Do you want to understand what exactly your mind is searching for? Do you sometimes feel that it is difficult to come out of thought patterns that do not let you feel happy, such as worry, frustration or stress? Do you seek freedom from the ever changing scenarios of daily life?
The retreat develops a step by step intellectual understanding of how the mind works and how to use the mind as a helpful tool rather than being a slave of the mind. It focuses on experiential knowledge so that you can discover the secrets of happiness for yourself.
The programme uses a combination of complementary methods to transform your relationship with yourself and with life:

- Training the subconscious mind to be more positive – both through conscious behaviours and effortless techniques
- Training the mind to be in the present moment rather than wasting time in overthinking, using techniques which the mind will not easily grow bored of
- Teaching practical approaches to manage the mind when facing difficult mental patterns
- Guiding participants to glimpse the relief when the mind gets a break from thinking

The seven steps of the Secret To Happiness Retreat based on Attention Training & Realignment (ATR) programme are:
- Presence centred anchoring - Spending time in the presence of people & content who represent how you want to be
- Enquiry based Program for Intellectual Clarity - Self enquiry based intellectual understanding of how the mind works and how to transform the mind
- Subconscious Mind Training During Sleep - Training the subconscious mind to have a positive outlook through powerful subliminal affirmations by listening to an expert's audio recording
- Subconscious Mind Training While Awake - Training the subconscious mind through powerful self-affirmations and self-talk
- Being Centred Attention Training - A practice of bringing attention back to the present moment
- Mental Pattern Shifting - Learning how to shift the attention from negative thought patterns to positive patterns
- Attention Absorption in Inner Silence - Learning how to let the attention shift from mental chatter to the peace of inner silence

- Two full retreat days
- Vegetarian lunch and refreshments on both days
- Personalised guidance via video call post-retreat to help you integrate the practices and ask any personal questions
Please note: This is a non-residential retreat. There will be two full days of teachings, and you will have the flexibility to return to your own accommodation in the evening to rest and recharge.
