What we’re about
** Notice: Meetup doesn't allow us to close a group to new members, but our group has become too big to be able to have everyone come to brunch together, so we're not accepting new members for now. That may change in the future if some of our current group move on. **
Have you yearned for deep connection with a group of women you could really relate to, kind of like the Ya Ya Sisterhood, but older and wiser?
We have all spent from 18 - 25 years (or more!) raising kids and putting our own wants & needs on the back burner. Friends move away, or drift apart under the toll of competing demands. At this point, our group is all over 55 (I think 55-64 about covers us), and some of us have grown kids at home, but most of our kids are (relatively) launched. We want to consciously make space for real friendship and connection with other authentic women. This will involve brunches, walks or hikes, movies, concerts, board games, book discussions, lots of deep conversation and hanging out "In Real Life."
Our group is diverse in certain ways and would love to be more so -- we have a range of ethnicities, income and marital status, but many of us have (adult) kids that are struggling more or less on the road to becoming independent adults, and we are all on the left side of the political spectrum. Trump supporters and anti-feminists wouldn't feel at home in this group.
Due to Meetup's organizer fees and the fact that we are a very small group, there is a $20 per year membership fee to keep the group going. You may join and spend 90 days trying out the group before deciding whether to pay to continue with us. This fee just covers Meetup's group organizer fees and may be adjusted over time to reflect those costs.
