MBCT is an evidenced-based program for reducing relapse in depression. The class, which is composed of 8 two-hour sessions, involves meditation, mindful movement practice, and psychoeducation. Yoga mats are provided. Meditations will be done either lying down or on chairs, although participants can bring their own meditation cushions. According to one meta-study. Patients receiving mindfulness-based cognitive therapy had a significantly reduced risk of depressive relapse within a 60-week follow-up period compared with those who received usual care and had comparable outcomes to those who received other active treatments.
