West Zion at Dawn: Circling Pine Valley Peak (Postponed to Thursday)

Rating: 4.5 miles with 1200ft. of elevation gain/loss. Moderate to strenuous, with some steepish climbing and significant bushwacking in spots. Altitude is near 7000 feet. Around 5 hours total hike time.
The hike is limited to 12 persons per Zion rules.

This hike is in conjunction with Red Rock Hiking and the 12 spots are being divided between the two groups.

We start by traveling down an old ranch irrigation canal for a mile, and then cut over to the peak and circle around it on beautiful red and white sandstone formations associated with the peak itself. It's great. :)
This peak is one of those iconic white domes poking up out of the pine woods in Western Zion. It has some of the best hiking sandstone in the entire park yet it's visited quite rarely, because access is tricky and difficult to locate.
The route is mostly cross-country and goes directly south from Kolob Reservoir Road near the Wildcat Trailhead. After looping around the peak, we return along the connector Trail to the start, easy peazy.

Prep: 2 big bottles of water, sturdy grippy hiking boots/shoes, gloves for the rocky and bushy bits, optional hiking poles, some food.

Meet and Drive:
We meet at the La Verkin Davis Grocery parking lot, then it's 26 paved and very scenic miles to Wildcat Trailhead in ZNP.
