Mindful Photography Workshop
Details
This workshop explores Miksang - a contemplative approach to photography. Meaning “Good Eye” in Tibetan, it is a practice of perception - of slowing down & opening to what is actually here, right in front of us.
We all carry so much into the act of seeing: opinions, ideas about what makes a “good” photograph, and habitual ways of looking. Miksang gently invites us to put some of this down, and to meet the world with curiosity and tenderness. When we synchronize our eye, heart & mind, something shifts & we open to the ordinary magic in the world.
In this workshop, we’ll begin with an introduction to Miksang, followed by mindfulness practices to help us settle and attune. From there, we’ll move into direct, embodied encounters with our surroundings through the practice of contemplative photography.
No prior photography or mindfulness experience is needed - just a willingness to pause, look & be with what’s here (and a phone or camera to take pictures with).
