A happy introduction to mindfulness meditation. After a group introduction and discussion, we will playfully explore the practice while strolling through the Wissahickon.

Specifically designed for beginners, this outing will give you a sense of what mindfulness meditation is, how it works, and why it's worth doing. We draw from practical points shared by the pioneer of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Jon Kabat-Zinn, as well as the wisdom of legendary humanitarian / activist Thích Nhất Hạnh.

Although a 101 session, seasoned practitioners may appreciate the refreshing "reset" of revisiting foundational elements — and the Wissahickon is a splendid place to rest one's awareness!

Expect a relaxed and friendly vibe, like a good meditation sitting. The starting location is the picnic table area just off the parking lot at Blue Bell Park. Feel free to arrive 15 minutes early if you want to hang out and chat a bit before we begin!
